This one-night-only screening is part of the series Summer Movie Nights, hosted by the Cinema Society of Kingston. The screening will be introduced by cinematographer Joe Elliot, who selected the film.

The 40th anniversary of The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter, the final masterpiece from the legendary Shaw Brothers studio in Hong Kong and one of the greatest kung fu films ever made. Starring Gordon Liu and Fu Sheng as two brothers sent spiralling down a path of madness and revenge when their father and brothers are killed in a traitorous plot to overthrow Song dynasty. Actor Fu Sheng, a rising star in Hong Kong cinema, died in a car accident midway through production before his filming was complete. Director Lau Kar-leung rewrote the ending of the film, imbuing it with a deep sense of grief and anger, creating one of the most cathartic and exhilarating showdowns in cinema history.
