New This Week: On Swift Horses and The Legend of Ochi.

August 14 @ 6pm

Chosen & introduced by Adrienne Wong (SpiderWebShow Performance) // Part of Theatre Flick Picks, a series presented as part of the 2023 Kick & Push Festival.

The people of Detroit know 8 Mile as the city limit, a border, a boundary. It is also a psychological dividing line that separates Jimmy Smith Jr. (Eminem) from where and who he wants to be. A provocative fictional examination of a critical week in Jimmy’s life.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMMER: Adrienne Wong is the Artistic Director of SpiderWebShow and co-curates the Festival of Live Digital Art with Michael Wheeler and Marcel Stewart. Adrienne’s artistic practice straddles theatrical and digital space. She lives in Victoria BC where she is currently pursuing a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria.

Because it rejects easy victories, this may be one of the few inspirational movies that could actually inspire someone, somewhere, sometime.
