Wednesday April 23 @ 3:20pm

Captioned Screening: This screening of The Ballad of Wallis Island on will be presented with on-screen captions.

Charles (Tim Key), an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on a remote island,  dreams of getting his favorite musicians, McGwyer Mortimer (Tom Basden & Carey Mulligan) back together. His fantasy turns into reality when the bandmates and former lovers accept his invitation to play a private show at his home on Wallis Island. Old tensions resurface as Charles tries desperately to salvage his dream gig.

James Griffiths’ tender comedy-drama also has a ton of heart, a generosity of spirit and an ultimately disarming sweetness that make it sneak up on you, cynicism be damned. It’s also quite funny, in an eccentric, decidedly British way. – The Hollywood Reporter

A cozy crowdpleaser with real heart and some lovely songs, and one that doesn’t trade honesty for predictable beats. – indieWire
