Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern star as lovers Sailor and Lula who set out for California together. Unfortunately, the couple are besieged by Lula’s mother Marietta Fortune (Diane Ladd) who hires both a private-eye to track them, and a gangster to kill Sailor. A road movie as only David Lynch could deliver, Wild at Heart crosses pastiche of Elvis movies, homage to The Wizard of Oz, and meta intrigue by casting real life mother-daughter pair of Laura Dern and Diane Ladd.
Not for the weak of heart, one of the best Lynchian outings with some fantastically memorable dialogue.
