May The 4th Be With You: Tickets on sale now for Star Wars (1977)!

Thursday March 23 @ 6pm

Part of the series BIPOC Movie Nights, organized in collaboration with students from Queen’s Film and Media.

Wei Tong (Taiwanese American) and Simon (American) are a happy gay couple living in New York. But Wei Tong’s nagging parents want to see their son married with children. The couple came up with a plan: Wei Tong will “fake” marry Wei-Wei, an acquaintance and artist in need of a green card. However, Wei Tong’s partners arrive to visit New York from Taipei to witness their wedding. As Wei Tong’s parents stayed in New York, their interpersonal relationship complicates, and things are getting out of hand…

Cultural clashes all over the place in this sweet and gently comedy.

Never patronising his characters, Ang Lee combines comedy, both subtle and raucous, with acute social asides.
